MANAGEMET ACTIONS FOR CONSERVATION OF *TETRAX TETRAX IN STEPPIC SARDINIA
The little Bustard (* Tetrax tetrax) is a species included in Annex I of the EU directive birds that in Europe is classified under unfavourable conservation status and therefore endangered. Its habitat of choice ranges from meadows and pastures to arid Thero-Brachypodietea and Festuco-Brometalia sites (priority habitats under Directive 92 /43/eec), for which the European Community calls on Member States a high level of attention and concrete steps to safeguard them. Certain forms of intensive agriculture can make important changes in these contextual environmental. The project LIFE07 M.As.Co.T.T.S.S. intends to activate urgent actions of habitat management through the promotion of agricultural practices eco-compatible in order to improve the quality of the habitats and encourage their expansion and increase reproduction of the species.
